About Me

Hello and welcome! I am Juliann Barnhard, a specialist non-fiction proofreader, and copy editor. I received my professional copyediting certification from the University of California at San Diego with a 4.0-grade point average.

I guess you could say I began my editing career when I started working at a construction company in 1992. I edited their company literature, as well as their proposals. I also did the occasional proofreading job and resume creation for friends. I found my passion for editing while working for a transcription company in 2009. It was my job to go through each document while listening to the audio and edit for misspelled words, wrong words, grammar, and punctuation. Also in 2009, I started offering my proofreading and editing services on oDesk.com and worked for a variety of customers editing documents, websites, and books. I know offer my copy editing services on Upwork, Guru, and People Per Hour.

I also have previous experience in accounting, construction, and have edited medical and general transcription.

I am a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and ACES: The Society for Editing.

As a copyeditor, it is my job to help authors convey their writing with clarity and conciseness. As well as helping non-native English speakers communicate to a broader audience. I realize you put a lot of work into your writing, and it is my goal to make you look perfect. It is a privilege to be entrusted with polishing an author’s work, one for which I am always profoundly grateful.
